John Ward is a seasoned risk manager that fully understands the importance of rigorous credit discipline while facilitating business initiatives.  As both a senior lender and a Chief Risk Officer, John has significant experience in assisting financial institutions maximize capital efficiency and revenue generation while protecting and strengthening their risk platforms.  Clients utilize John’s knowledge in connection with new and critically important product expansions, including the introduction and evolution of structured and hybrid products which raise complex risk issues.  John also assists in structuring risk functions and risk process to be more integrated into the business activities.  He brings an understanding of both banking and securities considerations to clients, and is expert in Corporate Governance and Reputation Risk.   

John served as Chief Risk Officer for ORIX USA, the $5 billion  US subsidiary of the $50 billion global financial services company.  

From 1970-1999, he was with Citibank: as a lender, he was Head of the Corporate Capital Group of the North American Banking Group and also Head Corporate Sales in the North American Investment Banking Division.  From the risk side, he served as Director of the North American Global Finance Group, responsible for over 100 individuals that provided independent evaluation of portfolios and risk processes for all Citibank corporate and investment banking businesses in North America.

John holds an MBA in Corporate Finance from NYU and a BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic.  He holds NASD series 3, 7, 24, 52, 53 and 63 licenses.
